  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and salt.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the walnuts, if using.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove the pan from the oven and let cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
