Cake Boss Vanilla Sponge Cake Recipe
Ingredients
Making a delicious vanilla sponge cake is not as hard as you think with the help of this recipe from cake boss, Buddy Valastro. To make the cake, you will need:
- 4 cups of cake flour
- 2 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 2 cups of unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 1/4 cups of granulated sugar
- 5 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup of whole milk
Instructions
First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour the sides and bottom of two 9-inch round cake pans. Sift together the cake flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined. Add the flour mixture and the milk alternately in three parts, beginning and ending with the flour. Beat until just combined.
Divide the batter between the two prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool for 10 minutes before turning them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Once the cakes have cooled, you can decorate with your favorite frosting. Enjoy!
