Coffee and Walnut Layer Cake

Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup butter, softened

- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9 inch cake pans. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the coffee, mixing just until incorporated. Stir in the walnuts. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely. In a small bowl, mix together the confectioners' sugar and milk until smooth. Spread over the top of the cooled cake.
