2 Tier Chocolate Drip Cake
Two-Tier Chocolate Drip Cake
Ingredients
This two-tier chocolate drip cake is a showstopper of a dessert, and it's surprisingly easy to make. Here's what you'll need to make it:
- Cake mix of your choice, plus any ingredients needed to make the cake (eggs, oil, water, etc.)
- 2 packages of instant chocolate pudding mix
- 3 cups of cold milk
- 3/4 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 1 cup of powdered sugar
- Sprinkles or decorations of your choice
Instructions
Begin by preheating your oven to the temperature recommended on the cake mix box. Grease two 9-inch round cake pans, and prepare the cake batter according to the instructions on the box. Divide the batter evenly between the two pans and bake for the amount of time recommended on the box. When the cakes are done, let them cool completely.
Once the cakes have cooled, it's time to make the chocolate pudding. In a large bowl, whisk together the two packages of pudding mix and the cold milk until the pudding is thick and creamy. Pour the pudding into a shallow dish and place it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow it to set.
To make the chocolate drizzle, combine the chocolate chips, heavy whipping cream and butter in a medium-sized saucepan. Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the powdered sugar. Let the mixture cool slightly before using it to drizzle over the cake.
To assemble the cake, place one of the cooled cakes on a plate or cake stand. Spread a layer of the chocolate pudding over the top of the cake. Place the second cake on top of the first, and spread the remaining pudding over the top layer. Drizzle the chocolate drizzle over the top of the cake, and decorate with sprinkles or other decorations of your choice.
