Ingredients

  • 1 lb of steak, cubed
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup of gluten-free ale
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of gluten-free flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt and pepper
  • Gluten-free pastry for the top and bottom of the pie

Instructions

Start by preheating your oven to 375 degrees F. Then, in a large skillet, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the steak and cook until it’s browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside. Now, add the onion and garlic to the same skillet and cook until softened. Then, add the ale, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for about 5 minutes or until the liquid is reduced and thickened.

Next, stir in the parsley, thyme, gluten-free flour, salt and pepper. Add the steak back to the skillet and stir everything together. Then, remove from the heat and set aside. Grease a 9-inch pie pan with some butter or oil. Roll out the gluten-free pastry and line the bottom of the pan. Pour in the steak filling and spread it out evenly. Now, roll out the remaining pastry and cover the top of the pie. Cut a few slits in the top of the pastry to let the steam escape. Brush the top with some beaten egg or milk for a golden brown finish.

Bake the pie for about 45 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Let the pie cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
