Happy Birthday Harry Potter Cake Images

Ingredients

This Harry Potter birthday cake is a treat for any Potterhead. You’ll need the following ingredients:

3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
Chocolate frosting
Yellow and red food coloring
Chocolate chips, sprinkles, and other decorations

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and lightly flour three 9-inch round cake pans. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Add the flour mixture alternately with the buttermilk, stirring just until incorporated. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.

Allow the cakes to cool for 10 minutes, then remove from the pans and cool completely on a wire rack. Once cooled, place one layer on a cake plate and spread chocolate frosting over the top. Place the second layer on top and spread the frosting over the top and sides of the cake. Place the third layer on top.

In a bowl, combine yellow and red food coloring to make an orange color. Spread the orange frosting over the top and sides of the cake. Sprinkle with chocolate chips, sprinkles, or other decorations. Refrigerate the cake until ready to serve.
