Bbc Good Food Scone Recipe
Create Delicious Scone with BBC Good Food Recipe
Ingredients
Creating delicious scones is easier than you think. All you need is to get all the right ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need for this BBC Good Food scone recipe: 300g self-raising flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 75g butter, 2 tsp caster sugar, 1 medium egg, and 150ml milk.
Instructions
The first step is to preheat your oven to 220C/200C fan/gas 7 and lightly grease a baking tray. Then, sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl and rub in the butter with your fingertips until the mixture looks like fine crumbs. Add the caster sugar and stir to combine.
In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and milk together. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and pour in the liquid. Using a round-bladed knife, mix the ingredients together to make a soft dough. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for one minute.
Roll out the dough to a thickness of 2cm and, using a 5cm cutter, cut out rounds. Place these on the baking tray and re-roll the trimmings and cut out more rounds. Brush the tops of the scones with a little milk and bake for 10 minutes until golden.
Leave the scones to cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve the scones warm with butter and jam, and a cup of tea. Enjoy!
