Ingredients

Instructions

Begin by finely chopping the onion. Heat the butter in a large pot over medium heat and add the chopped onion. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the cabbage and cook for another 5 minutes or until the cabbage is slightly softened. Add the vinegar, brown sugar, caraway seeds, cloves, salt and pepper. Stir to combine and reduce the heat to low.

Cover and simmer for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally. After 1 hour, remove the lid and turn the heat up to medium-high. Cook for an additional 10 minutes or until most of the liquid has evaporated. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm.
