  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2 tablespoons jeera (cumin) seeds

Instructions

For the Butter Chicken

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the oil, onions, and garlic and cook until the onions are softened and lightly browned, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the ginger and tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add the chicken and all the spices, stirring to combine.
  • Cook until the chicken is cooked through, about 10 minutes.
  • Add the cream and butter and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Garnish with cilantro.

For the Jeera Rice

  • In a medium saucepan, add the rice, jeera seeds, and 2 cups of water.
  • Bring to a boil and reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and let sit for 10 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
