Instructions

Now that you have all the ingredients, it's time to start cooking. First, you need to rinse the Basmati rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Drain the rice and set it aside.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is softened and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cardamom, and cinnamon, and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute.
