Street Style Vada Pav Recipe
Vada Pav is one of India’s favorite street snacks. It is a spicy potato patty, which is deep-fried and served with a bun. The dish is a popular snack in Mumbai and can be found in street-side stalls. Ingredients
For the Vada:
1 cup boiled and mashed potatoes
2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
1 teaspoon green chilli paste
1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon amchur powder
Salt to taste
1 tablespoon oil
Oil for deep frying
For the Pav:
4 pav buns
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon chaat masala
For the Garnish:
1 onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons coriander leaves, finely chopped
1 green chilli, finely chopped
1 teaspoon chaat masala
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 lemon, cut into wedges
Instructions
To make the Vada:
1. In a bowl, add the boiled potatoes, coriander leaves, green chilli paste, ginger garlic paste, garam masala, cumin powder, amchur powder and salt. Mix everything together and knead into a soft dough.
2. Heat the oil in a pan and shape the dough into small round patties. Fry the patties until golden brown and set aside.
To make the Pav:
1. Cut the pav buns in half and toast them lightly. Spread the butter on both sides of the pav buns and sprinkle the red chilli powder, cumin powder and chaat masala on top.
To assemble the Vada Pav:
1. Place one of the fried vadas on the pav bun and top with the onion, coriander leaves, green chilli, chaat masala and red chilli powder.
2. Squeeze a few drops of lemon juice on top and serve hot.
