How To Make Palak Paneer Paratha

Palak Paneer Paratha is a flavorful Indian flatbread that is stuffed with a delicious spicy Paneer and Spinach filling. It is a perfect dish for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is also great for parties, picnics, and potlucks. The filling of the paratha can be customized to your liking with different vegetables and spices. Ingredients

For the Paratha Dough:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons ghee
  • 1/2 cup water

For the Filling:

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 cup crumbled paneer
  • 1 cup spinach, chopped
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

Making the Dough for Palak Paneer Paratha

In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, salt and ghee. Mix it well. Slowly add in the water and knead it into a soft dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and keep it aside for 15 minutes.

Making the Filling for Palak Paneer Paratha

Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle. Add the diced onion and sauté until it turns golden brown. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute. Then, add the diced tomato and sauté for another few minutes.

Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala and mix well. Add the crumbled paneer and mix it in. Then, add the chopped spinach and mix it all together. Cook it for a few minutes until the spinach wilts and the mixture comes together. Add salt to taste and turn off the heat.

Assembling and Cooking the Palak Paneer Paratha

Divide the dough into 8 equal parts and shape them into balls. Dust each ball with some flour and roll it out into a circle about 6-7 inches in diameter. Place a generous amount of the filling in the center of the circle. Gather the edges of the circle together and press them to seal the filling inside.

Dust the sealed paratha with some flour and roll it out again into a circle about 8-9 inches in diameter. Heat a griddle or a tawa over medium heat. Place the paratha on the griddle and cook until the bottom side is golden brown. Flip the paratha and cook until the other side is golden brown. Drizzle some ghee or oil over the paratha while cooking.

Flip the paratha again and cook until both sides are golden brown and crisp. Remove the paratha from the griddle and serve hot with a dollop of butter or chutney.
