The Best Recipe for Cornish Pasties
Cornish pasties are a favorite dish in many homes. Not only are they deliciously savory and filling, but they are also incredibly easy to make. The traditional Cornish pasty is made with minced beef, potatoes, onion and swede, but you can of course experiment with different ingredients and flavors to make your own version. In this article, I'm going to be sharing with you my favorite recipe for making Cornish pasties.
Ingredients:
- 500g minced beef
- 2 large potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 large onion, peeled and diced
- 1/2 a swede, peeled and diced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 package of ready-made puff pastry
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
Instructions:
To make the filling, add the minced beef, potatoes, onion and swede to a large bowl and mix together. Season with salt and pepper, and mix again until all of the ingredients are evenly combined. Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas Mark 6.
Lay out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut out 4 circles with a pastry cutter. Place a spoonful of the filling into the center of each pastry circle, then brush the edges with the beaten egg. Fold the pastry over the filling to form a semi-circle, then crimp the edges of the pastry together with a fork.
Transfer the pasties to a baking sheet and brush the tops with the remaining egg. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve immediately.
