Delicious Blue and Red Velvet Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

This delicious Blue and Red Velvet Cake will be the perfect treat for any special occasion. To make this delightful dessert you will need:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons red food coloring
  • 2 teaspoons blue food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (176 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar and oil. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the buttermilk, red food coloring, blue food coloring, vinegar, and vanilla extract; beat well to combine. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.

Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting:

To make the frosting, in a medium bowl, cream together the butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy. Gradually add the confectioners’ sugar, 1 cup at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined. Use the frosting to frost the top and sides of the cooled cakes.
