Guinness Steak and Ale Pie
A Delicious Comfort Food for Steak Lovers
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. steak (chuck, sirloin, rib-eye, etc.) cut into cubes
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup Guinness or other ale
- 1/2 cup beef stock
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 sheet ready-made puff pastry
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium-high heat. Add steak cubes and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
- Add diced onion and garlic and cook for another 3 minutes.
- Add Guinness or ale, beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, oregano, black pepper, and salt. Stir to combine.
- Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir to combine. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Transfer the steak and ale mixture to a greased 9-inch pie dish.
- Lay the puff pastry over the top and crimp the edges with a fork.
- Brush the top of the pastry with egg wash (1 egg mixed with 1 tablespoon of milk).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
