Dahi Vada Batter Too Watery? Here's How to Fix It!

Dahi Vada is one of the most popular Indian snacks. It is made of lentil doughnuts that are deep-fried and then served with thick yoghurt and chutney. It is a very flavourful dish and is enjoyed by people all over the world. But sometimes, the batter for the vada can turn out too watery and ruin the dish. If you’re in this situation and want to know how to fix it, keep reading!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of Urad Dal (split black gram)
  • 2 tablespoons of rice flour
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • Water

Instructions

The first step is to soak the urad dal in water for 3-4 hours. After that, drain the water and grind the dal into a fine paste. To this paste, add the rice flour, cumin seeds, ginger-garlic paste, salt, and oil. Mix it all together and slowly add water to get a thick batter. If the batter turns out too watery, add some more rice flour to it and mix it well.

Now, the batter is ready. Take a spoonful of the batter and drop it into hot oil. Fry it until it turns golden brown and then take it out. You can also use a shape like a doughnut to make the vada. Repeat the same process for the rest of the batter. Once you’re done, your vadas are ready to be served with yoghurt and chutney.

Nutrition

Dahi Vada is a nutritious snack as it is made of urad dal and rice flour. Urad dal is rich in protein and fibre, while rice flour is a good source of carbohydrates. It also contains other essential nutrients like calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium. As it is fried in oil, it is high in calories. But it can be enjoyed in moderation as a healthy snack.

Tips

If you’re finding it difficult to make the vadas, you can use a vada maker or a vada press. This makes it easier to shape the vadas and get the perfect shape. You can also add chopped chillies, coriander leaves, and other spices to the batter to make it more flavourful. Lastly, make sure to fry the vadas on a low flame so that they cook evenly.

Now you know how to make delicious and perfect dahi vada batter. So, the next time you’re making it and it turns out too watery, use the tips mentioned above to fix it. Enjoy your dahi vada with yoghurt and chutney!
