Introduction

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons grated fresh coconut
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups of water

Instructions

In a large bowl, mix together the besan, turmeric powder, red chili powder, sugar, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, oil, lemon juice, grated coconut, coriander leaves, and salt. Mix the ingredients together until it forms a thick batter. Make sure there are no lumps in the batter.

Now add the water to the batter and mix until it forms a smooth, pourable consistency. Now pour the batter into a greased and lined cake tin. Tap the tin lightly on the counter to remove any air bubbles.

Now place the tin in a steamer and steam for 15-20 minutes. To check if the dhokla is done, insert a toothpick in the center of the dhokla. If it comes out clean, the dhokla is done. If not, steam for a few more minutes.

Once the dhokla is done, remove it from the steamer and let it cool completely. Once cooled, cut into squares and serve with chutney or spicy curry.
