Instructions


To make this delicious dish, start by washing the Urad and Moong dal in a bowl of water and soaking them together for about an hour. Once the lentils are soaked, drain the water and grind them into a coarse paste.

Heat the ghee or oil in a pan over medium heat and add the cumin and salt. Once the cumin starts to crackle, add the ginger and garlic paste and mix. Add the red chili powder and garam masala, and mix. Add the ground lentil paste and mix. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

Once the mixture is cooked through, turn off the heat and let it cool. Once it is cool enough to handle, form it into small balls and flatten them slightly. Top the vadas with the tamarind and coriander chutney and sprinkle with chaat masala, chopped coriander leaves and mint leaves. Serve the Dahi Vada with extra yogurt and chutney on the side. Enjoy!
