Ingredients

For this tasty deep fried fish with sweet and sour sauce, you'll need:

  • 4 4-ounce white fish fillets, such as tilapia, haddock, or cod
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

Start by preheating your oven to 400°F. Then, combine the flour, eggs, panko, salt, pepper, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, ground ginger, paprika, and onion powder in a shallow dish. Mix until everything is well blended.

Place the fish fillets in the dish and coat both sides with the mixture. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Carefully add the fish fillets to the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Transfer the cooked fish to a baking sheet lined with foil. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through. While the fish is baking, make the sweet and sour sauce.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the honey, vinegar, ketchup, soy sauce, cornstarch, and water. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring constantly. Simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened. Remove the sauce from the heat and set aside.

To serve, spoon the sweet and sour sauce over the baked fish fillets. Serve with your favorite side dishes and enjoy!
