Butter Naan And Paneer Butter Masala
Ingredients
For the Butter Naan: 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 2 tablespoons warm milk, 2 tablespoons melted butter, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoons plain yogurt, 1/4 cup warm water.
For the Paneer Butter Masala: 2 tablespoons oil, 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste, 1 large onion, chopped, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon garam masala, 1 teaspoon coriander powder, 2 tomatoes, chopped, 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder, 1/2 cup green peas, 1 cup cubed paneer, 2 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons cream, 1 tablespoon kasuri methi, Salt to taste.
Instructions
For the Butter Naan: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, warm milk, melted butter, sugar, salt and plain yogurt. Mix well and slowly add the warm water. Knead the dough until it is soft and pliable. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, knead the dough again and divide into 8 equal parts. Roll each part into a ball and cover with a damp cloth. Take one ball, roll it out into a thin circle. Heat a non-stick pan and place the rolled out naan on it. Cook for 1-2 minutes until it is lightly golden brown and then flip it over and cook for another 1-2 minutes. When both sides are nicely browned, brush the naan with melted butter or ghee.
For the Paneer Butter Masala: Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few seconds. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 5 minutes until it is lightly browned. Add the turmeric powder, garam masala, coriander powder, chopped tomatoes, red chilli powder, green peas and cubed paneer. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes. Add the butter, cream and kasuri methi and mix well. Simmer the mixture for 5 minutes and season with salt.
