Best Fish Pie Recipe With Pastry

Ingredients

To make the perfect fish pie, you'll need the following ingredients:

  • 600g potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 200ml whole milk
  • 50g butter
  • 300g haddock fillet, skinned and diced
  • 300g salmon fillet, skinned and diced
  • 100g frozen peas
  • 100g cooked and peeled prawns
  • 3 tablespoons plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
  • 1 sheet ready-made puff pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • salt and pepper

You'll also need a medium-sized ovenproof dish.

Instructions

This delicious fish pie recipe is really easy to make. Start by preheating your oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas Mark 6. Next, put the potatoes in a pan and cover with cold water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes, or until tender. Drain the potatoes and mash them with the butter and milk. Season with salt and pepper, then set aside.

Next, heat a little oil in a frying pan and fry the haddock and salmon for a few minutes until cooked. Remove from the heat and stir in the peas, prawns, flour, and chives. Place the mixture in the ovenproof dish.

Spread the mashed potatoes over the top of the fish mixture, and brush with beaten egg. Top with the puff pastry and press down the edges to seal. Brush the pastry with more beaten egg and bake for 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden-brown.

Once cooked, remove from the oven and serve with your favourite vegetables or a salad.
