Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup semolina
- 1 cup yogurt
- 3 tablespoons ghee, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- Water, as needed
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, semolina, yogurt, ghee, salt, sugar, and baking powder. Mix together until everything is well combined. Add water, as needed, to make a soft dough. Knead the dough for 5 minutes, or until it is soft and pliable.
Divide the dough into 10 equal portions. Take one portion of dough and roll it into a ball. Flatten it into a disc shape and roll it out into a thin circle, about 6 inches in diameter. Place the dough on a lightly greased baking sheet. Brush the top of the paratha with melted ghee or oil. Then fold it in half, and then fold it in half again. Now you have a triangle shape. Brush the top of the triangle with ghee or oil. Then fold it in half again, and then fold it in half again. Now you have a small square shape.
Repeat with the remaining dough balls. Place the parathas on a lightly greased baking sheet. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and place the parathas on the skillet. Cook for 2 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy. Serve hot with chutneys, pickles, and curries.
