Instructions

1. Start by washing the Chana Dal and then soaking it in water for about 30 minutes. 2. Heat the oil in a pan, add the cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds and fry for a few seconds. 3. Add the coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, garam masala and cloves and fry for another few seconds. 4. Add the onion, tomato, green chilli, ginger-garlic paste, coriander leaves, mint leaves and lemon juice and fry for a few minutes. 5. Add the soaked Chana Dal, mix well and fry for a few minutes. 6. Add 2 cups of water, bring to a boil and then reduce the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. 7. If the Chana Dal is still too firm, add a bit more water and simmer for a few more minutes. 8. When the Chana Dal is cooked, add the cashews and cook for a few more minutes. 9. Serve the Chana Dal Fry Dhaba Style Pakistani hot with chapati or rice.
