Ingredients

This delicious Mutton Biryani recipe calls for 1 Kg of Mutton, 1 cup of Basmati Rice, 3 onions, 4 tomatoes, 2 potatoes, 2 green chillies, 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 2 teaspoons of chilli powder, 1 teaspoon garam masala, 1 teaspoon of coriander powder, 2 bay leaves, 1 cup of fresh coriander, 1 cup of fresh mint, 2 tablespoons of oil, and 2 teaspoons of salt.

Instructions

Begin by washing the Mutton and adding it to a large saucepan. Add the salt and turmeric powder, and cover the pan with a lid. Cook on a low heat for 30 minutes, until the mutton has softened. Once the Mutton is cooked, set aside.

Next, wash the Basmati Rice and add it to a large saucepan, then add 1 cup of water. Add 1 teaspoon of salt and bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 8-10 minutes. Once the Rice is cooked, set aside.

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of oil. Add the onions and sauté for 5 minutes, until they are soft and golden brown. Add the tomatoes, chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder and salt, and cook for another 5 minutes. Add the cooked Mutton and potatoes, and cook for a further 10 minutes.

In a separate pot, add the cooked Basmati Rice, green chillies, bay leaves, fresh coriander and fresh mint. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes. Finally, combine the Mutton and Rice mixtures together and mix well. Cook on a low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
